So long 2012

A few days prior to Christmas I decided to make my own little version of a "junk" Christmas tree using a very old blue step ladder.

It's dressed up with vintage pieces of whozits and whatnots.....

and some dried oranges and a vintage grocery basket filled with old baseballs

3.....our number

I love it.....

and it will last longer than a Christmas tree.  :)

Happy New Year Friends!

Sprucing up ordinary decor into extraordinary decor!

Finding little ways here and there where I can take ordinary pieces around my home and giving them a little more attention.

More sprucing.

More detail.

Once again being inspired by Donna and noticing I have some glass pillar candles that I could add some pizazz too, like she did, I immediately decided to do some sprucing.

I also found a very cheap name brand large glass candle at a thrift shop, but it had the wrong lid on it. So, I grabbed the candle, pitched the lid, and added some citrus and vintage Christmas hymnal music.

Along with jute I added my most favorite herb....Rosemary! It smells incredible and the bush remains beautiful year round!

I also added some scrabble tiles to the pillars, adds a little bit of character to them, don't ya think?

To make the whole display work together beautifully I added some of my dried hydrangeas and some gears to honor Donna!

Are you still sprucing?

Chalkboard Ornaments!

Ok, so I have ANOTHER DIY for ya.

Guess what.  This one also includes a little bit of penmenship....so, I'll warn ya again: My handwriting is not pretty...it's weird.

Again my inspiration came from pinterest and other blogs which I don't even know where it was originally from anymore...

Lots of options for fun messages....

Yes, these are just small rectangular wooden pieces found at Michael's, then painted with a few coats of chalkboard paint.  Super, duper easy, right?

The fun part....writing with chalk MARKERS!
My new favorite tools!  :)

Are you singing along to any certain song yet?  ;)

But these were so fun and sooooo easy.  I had to share.

Recipe Towels....DIY Christmas gift

Have you been seeing the recipe towels with the hand written recipe imprinted on them.  Pinterest, blogs, they're out there...go ahead....give it a google!

Well, I came across some others where you could make them SUPER easy.  There's actually nothing DIY about it....you just write.  YEP, you write the recipe.  On a flour sac towel.  With a sharpie.  Yep, told ya it was easy.  Stupidly easy.

Wanna see?

But now....here's the thing.  My handwriting can be very wonky at times.  I will start to write in cursive and then in the middle of that word, I will print the rest.  I told you, its very wonky...NOT PRETTY BY ANY MEANS....

But I will let you look anyway....

Do you see what I mean....yeah, not so perfect AT ALL!

But, I am learning to LOVE the perfectly imperfectness.  :)

Wickedly EASY

These took very little time, and are the perfect wrapping for exactly what the recipe is for......

So, I have a stack here waiting....you know for guests, that come for coffee (hopefully someone will read this, call me up, and ask if they can come over for coffee).  :)  And if no one wants them....the kids each get one so they some favorite family recipes in their mama's handwriting.
