Our first show of the year!

Yesterday was our first pottery show for this year. It wasn't the usual craft fair/show, it was more of an arts and outdoor exhibition show in memory of a wonderful wildlife artist by the name of Ned Smith. Ned Smith was the artist who did many many of the covers of Game News, and Fur, Fish, and Game. He was a fantastic artist and his prints now go for quite a bit of money. Ned Smith was a very fine outdoorsmen that happened to be a wonderful artist who studied, loved, and painted nature.
Anyway, I thought I would show you a few pictures of our display. We didn't have a tent, thank goodness it didn't rain!

New Pottery

Just thought I would share this picture of some new pottery with 2 new glazes that Bob made. I love it! The yellow is named cracked corn, and the white is speckled egg. I love them both and can envision some bittersweet stalks in the cracked corn pitchers for fall, and some greens in the speckled egg for winter. I need to put my order in! Funny how that works out...I never get any for myself, we usually sell it right away and then get orders for more.

We are preparing for a show this Saturday and we have pottery everywhere and trying to scramble to get it all done and ready. Hope its a good day!

Crow plates and BOO!

As promised I have pictures of two projects I just got finished with....The first one I did was 2 more plates primmed up in a mustard paint and then stenciled with a crow that my husband drew out for me...I think they turned out great. Take a look.

I also managed to get my "Boo" pennies done...I saw this idea awhile back and I really liked it and it was a simple easy project to get done.

My pictures got a little bright, but I think both of these projects really turned out nicely. I guess I am getting in the fall mood lately too, as well as a lot of you other bloggers out there. Fall is my favorite time of year and doing the plates and the pennies got me really thinking of what else I could make....so there will be more pictures and ideas real soon! Hope you have a great day! Tarrah

So many crafts, so little time

I am so overwhelmed and excited at the same time...I have so many craft ideas, thanks to all these great blogs that I read/follow, that I just don't know where to start and can barely sleep because one thought and idea only leads to so many more. Trust me...I love it and can barely contain myself, but my time of crafting will be short because my third semester of nursing school is peaking its head around the corner, and then it will be "to the books", and not to the sewing! So, I am trying to do all these things now and it seems like I have 5 different things started and none finished... as soon as I do have them finished, I will be posting pictures and passing on these craft ideas. I am working on some holiday things to give you a hint...a little fall, a little Halloween, and even Father Christmas has arrived here! So, back to the crafting!

Primitive Wood Project

Thought I would share an easy wood project that I just finished. I bought two simple wooden plates/trays from WM and primmed them up....I think they got great. Here is a picture of what they originally looked like.

After spray painting them black, and then painting the square one mustard, and the tray red, some sanding, adding a homemade easy stencil to the tray, a little more sanding and staining, this is how they turned out........

I really like how they turned out. I already filled the mustard one with cinnamon grungy tags, and have the red one empty on display!

Flower Frog

I love hydrangeas and mine are still blooming very nicely, so I thought I would cut one or two and put them in a pottery "frog" that Bob makes. I left the stem higher than usual so you could see the top of the frog.
Hope you are having a great Monday!

My first primitive piece

Always start at the beginning right.....well with that said, I thought I would show you the very first primitive piece that I made when we moved to our cabin almost 6 years ago. It is an antique window frame quilt. I saw something kind of similar to this years before, and when I came across this old window in an antique shop....the idea came to me. So, I instantly began to work at making a quilt type background for inside it. The stitches in it sure aren't perfect, but I love it....it looks prim and it is the first thing I really made. And so, it has been hanging there ever since.

Sharin a yummy cookie recipe

Good Morning bloggers! A very beautiful cool morning in Central Pa today.... a good day to be outdoors.
Thought I would share a yummy cookie recipe that we all love at my house and it is so easy....no baking required, just a little bit of time at the stove. This is a great way to get the kids involved...just monitor them at the stove.

No Bake Cookies

1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 stick butter/margarine (whatever you use)
1/2 c. milk
*Combine these in a pot over the stove and when the mixture begins to boil, boil only for 1 minute and remove from heat. Then add:
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. quick oats
1/2 c. (or a little bit more) of peanut butter
*Stir that up and drop small rounds onto wax paper to cool and stiffen slightly.

That's it! I hope you enjoy these....let me know how they turn out!

Change of title....I love the name pottery barn, but maybe I should go with shed instead. I hate to change it but I guess it should be now before later on....I don't need anyone contacting me regarding copyright issues and so forth. :)
I promise to get pictures up sometime soon of different things I am working on, but I first need to get a background layout for my blog...then good things will follow. If anyone has any great tips on getting a neat primitive/country background for my blog that is FREE, please let me know....I am kind of getting frustrated with not really knowing how to do it or how to navigate myself through my blog page and how to change and manuever things. Patti, from http://porchsittingtime.blogspot.com/ has been terrific in supporting me through this and helping me out....I appreciate it Patti!
Ok...time to get some work done before my computer starts smoking!

WELCOME! This is my first ever blog entry...how exciting! I wanted to do this for so long, and so I am finally going to take the plunge and just go with it. I have some free time right now so I guess this is the best time to go forth, because come August....round 2 of nursing school begins....my third semester. Whew...can't even talk about it yet. I need to enjoy summer first.
Anyway, the intent of this blog is to meet other crafters and friends, and share exciting news, tips, and how tos...I realize I have no pictures up yet, but hope to add all that glamour real soon. Our small pottery business is Indian Trail Pottery, so what better name than The Pottery Barn because we have a small shed/barn that we are using for the pottery.
I hope you come and visit back often...I can't wait to meet all of you!
