A Trip to St. Michaels, Md

This past weekend my family got to escape for a few days and went to St. Michaels, Maryland. It was a short, but nice trip. The weather wasn't the greatest for the main day that we were there. There was lots of rain, which was much needed, but not when we wanted to sit and watch the boats come in and dock.

The town is chock full of cute little homes and cottages like these

The view isn't bad either (but again, the weather wasn't cooperating)

The food is just so-so.... ;)

And NO, that is not a full pitcher of beer...it's soda!

Look at that beautiful blue crab!

Gracie was being taught by Nana Diane how to properly get the meat out of the crab, and Maddie wanted in on the picture! :)

And oh yes, this place wasn't cheap for us 7 to eat there....YIKES!

I found a few treasures:

This is my type of purse...an old canvas bag with leather belt straps. This came from a very cool vintage/french country shop in downtown St. Michaels.

A beautiful pewter piece picked up at a flea market for only a few $....YEAH!

And 2 round butter presses to add to my collection that we got a great deal on at the same flea market!
It was a great trip!

More New Pottery with a "Trick or Treat"!

Check out all the new pottery we pulled out of the kiln. Bob did some personalized crocks for the kids with their birthdates on them....they were so excited!

He also made one with Indy's name and football # with the name of his team and team colors (black and orange). It got great. Indy was so surprised!

Here are some beautiful pieces of redware. The pictures do NOT do them justice. Vases, birdhouses, and a wide mouth jug.

Another Live*Laugh*Love

Now, check out this cute little trick or treat crock, that will have you thinking about fall! ;)

Have a great week!

Peach Season with a Cobbler Recipe!

The peach season is just starting here in our neck of the woods, and while I was at my favorite farm market this past Friday I picked up a basket of beautiful peaches. Those were some very sweet and juicy peaches, and I can't wait to get quite a bit more this week!

In fact, they were soooo good that I made not one, but 2 peach cobblers back to back nights because we devoured the first cobbler so quickly.....in all fairness it doesn't make a huge dish, and we had company! ;)

So, I thought I would share this cobbler recipe with you and if you try it let me know what you think of it. It is absolutely delightful with some vanilla ice cream while the cobbler is warm.....yuuummmmmmmm!!!!

Peach Cobbler
1/2 c. sugar
1 Tb. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
4 c. peaches
1 tsp. lemon juice
3 Tb. shortening
1 c. flour
1 Tb. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
* Heat oven to 400. Mix 1/2 c. sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon in 2 qt. saucepan. Stir in peaches and lemon juice. Cook, stirring constantly, until thickens. Boil and stir 1 minute. Pour into ungreased 2 qt. casserole.
* Cut shortening into flour, 1 Tb sugar, baking powder, and salt until fine crumbs. Stir in milk. Drop onto hot peaches. Bake 25-30 minutes. Enjoy! :)

Sorry I don't have any peach cobbler pictures of mine to show ya.....both times we ate it, we had company so I forgot to snag a picture of it. While the peaches, sugar and cinnamon mixture are cooking over the stove, the aroma of cinnamon and peaches smell soooooo good....guess you'll just have to try it to find out!

Well, we are in the middle of a terrible heat wave in Central Pa and with no rain in site. We need the rain sooooo bad here at my house, everything is dieing and brown. I am very concerned about our well with all the water we as a family of 5 use....so send a prayer out for us please...praying for rain in Gratz! Thank You~ Talk to you soon!

The Best Car Hop and Some Very Prim Pictures!

Yesterday, we headed out on the open road on yet another little antiquing trip! This time my husband suggested us visiting some small antique shops that we have never been to, and then treating us to my favorite summer restaurant: The Fence! It was the most beautiful, perfect day. It was actually cool with a temperature of around 68 a little before noon.
I never ever pass up a chance to go antiquing, or a trip to The Fence. I love the simplicity of this restaurant and the nostalgia that is there. My grandparents use to go here, and then my parents, which they still go a lot during the summer, and I've been eating at The Fence since I can remember. It's a cute little car hop with picnic tables galore, 50's music playing constantly and the view of the beautiful Susquehanna river right at your side. It is just awesome! If you are in the Lewisburg, Pa area you must try it! Take a look....

*At night, it is all lit up with those big yellow lights.

*Boaters can pull right up in and eat! And the geese are usually out and walking around, but not today.

The menu is simple and they are best known for their fish sandwhich with their very yummmy, secret recipe tartar sauce......yuuuummmmmmmm!!!! :) The french fries are oh so good too!

We then headed to Milton to 2 stores that I couldn't wait to check out....and wouldn't you know it, the one store that I wanted to go to most of all was closed AGAIN! But, I quick snapped a picture of it as we were leaving.

I did manage to find a couple little things while shopping in Lewisburg. Loved this nice old quilt even though it is a little tattered and torn but no one will see it! ;)

Found another crock and a blue banded bowl at a great price....I just noticed that everything is blue!?

* I also picked up some of these great prim notecards...

*Here they are seperately.....

Aren't they fabulous pictures? Wishing I had some displays like that!!!!

Well friends....I hope you each have a wonderful 4th of July Holiday! Stay safe! Tarrah
