Ok, so he isn't really living in my house...but his presence is certainly felt around here lately!!!

I'm grateful that he is here, on top of my nauseated feeling when thinking about budgets, I actually have a bigger sense of peace and believe it or not an excited feeling about being in control of my money.

It's in the beginning stages of the works, but my husband and I both feel better about what we are doing and how we control our money, instead of our money controling us.

Are you a Dave Ramsey student? If so , I would love to hear any tips, testimonies, or helpful ideas you have found along the way.

This weekend was our first snow filled weekend! We woke up to approx 6" of snow on Saturday morning and we were all excited for it! It was absolutely beautiful!

Koda loved it too!

The old buckboard, looking its finest with a fresh coating of snow...

And since the kids were out playing, and while watching the football game, I decided to craft.....hmmmm, how about I make a mini wreath using some of those vintage white buttons I showed on here last week.

I love how it turned out...now to make more, and I'm thinking large scale! ;)

A weekend of fun...

The weekend that I thought I would get a ton of things done, is gone and over. I am still sitting here with the same pile of laundry, plus more added to the pile, and the same dirty floors that need swept and mopped, amongst many other areas of the house that have been deprived.

BUT, there are some stacks of crafty things that have had attention and effort put into it.

Remember the easy peasy hint I gave you?

Making these?

Well, YES, I made some beautiful homemade envelopes for my new Dave Ramsey endeavor....but I couldn't use my Martha Stewart templates (shown above). I wanted a plain old "normal" sized envelope....perfect for putting dollar bills into.

Oh, did I have fun making these......
unfold an envelope, trace it out onto fun scrapbooking paper, or whatever paper you have laying around, and then cut it out and glue up the sides.

I love how they turned out!

Who wouldn't want to put cold, hard cash into these things?! I will just make small labels yet to organize them into the categories, and they are finished!

I even made 1 for each of the kiddos, for their "saving for a rainy day" envelope!

They love them too!

So, with the beginning of my Financial Peace teachings from DR,and just to keep it real....a resolution of mine is to NOT use credit for the year 2012!

I can't go completely without plastic, since my debit card is plastic and that is where my money is drawn out of. BUT, I am striving for no credit card usage in 2012!

Anyone out there with me?

Making This Year Different

Do you find that at the beginning of a new year, you are ready to PURGE? Purge everything....home- workspace, closets, basements, garages, toy rooms, and of course your body. :) Lately, with lots of inspiration from some pretty fabulous ladies, I have felt the need to purge somethings in my lifestyle, in my way of thinking and living. I have a renewed feeling that this year I am going to do more things, take that next step that I've been fearing, and plant the seed that will lead to future promises. I will get rid of the doubt, the procrastinations and the "I don't know if I can do that" way of thinking.

Is anyone out there with me?

Earlier this week I signed up for an ecourse held by the lovely Jeanne Oliver. This class is called "Creatively Made" I was unsure if I should sign up for it at first, but took the plunge, and about a second after I did it, I knew I had done the right thing. I love the title of the class. It's not just about art folks, but how we are also Creatively Made by the Father. How wonderful this strong woman of Faith is and what a blessing it was to hear her talk about Gifts that were given to us with a purpose, with an intent to be used. It spoke so much to me and over a 100 other women on the very first day. And, these othere women....it's so great to see everyone on there sharing so many thoughts, ideas, stories.....one word....amazing! :)

So, my week got real busy and led to a whole bunch of "fun homework", but it was worth it.

On top of the ecourse, I am also going to be starting up the Dave Ramsey course! Wow, I must miss school?!

And as soon as I started pouring thoughts into the DR thing...a little craft came to mind, to make for the new endeavor.....will be sharing that soon, but here is a hint at what I'll be making.

Plus then there are the acorns.....lots of them floating around the house too, as I've been making them. Thinking pinks and glitter for February.

Baby, I'm Back....

Wow, after a little over 2 months, I am BACK! Life got BUSY, EXTREME STYLE!!!

I can't even tell you how amazed I am that it has really been a little over 2 months, and when I look back over the last 2 months, SO MUCH HAS GONE ON IN OUR LIVES! WHEWWWW, the holidays have come and gone....come and gone! How weird that is already?! Is there anyway, anyone can slow down time out there?! I am perplexed, but anyway....you don't want to hear me talk about how we all out there feel.

So, to get you up to speed on some little things,I will post some photos of a little bit of everything, hope to catch you up that way...

NEW 2011 Christmas Ornaments

I've got some very exciting news to share with you! This year, Indian Trail Pottery has 3 new ornaments available for you!

We are quite excited about these new pieces, and we hope that you will be too.

First off is our Gingerbread Men....

these little guys are glazed in our warm carmel glaze, measuring 3" high and 2 1/2" wide.

Next up is our stocking ornaments....

These have a white glazed cuff, and the boots can be glazed in rusted barn, robin's egg blue, and also in carmel (which I don't have any of at this moment).

These are also a lot of fun, measuring 3" long and approx 2" wide.

And last but not least, I just had to fit in a new version of my acorn ornies.....

These pictures don't come close to showing you how sparkly and wintery white looking these ornaments are. I had them near my light strands and the sparkles just prismed like crazy....so new and different.

A New Name Imprinted Tumbler and Cozy Feelings of Fall!

Something brand NEW to Indian Trail Pottery....

Name imprinted tumblers!!!
This is done by stamping letters into the wet clay and then we use a stain to darken the letters before glazing the piece. We are getting great reviews for these, and we are very excited for them!

If you are interested in purchasing some tumblers, give us a hollar! They will make great little gifts for the upcoming season! How about having these for each person coming to your Thanksgiving table...what a lovely favor! This is a different post today....one that I hope will have you thinking, and aiming towards something you have been wanting to do....we all have dreams, hopes, wishes for ourselves. It is not necessarily about bigger and better, although everyone can strive to do better and live better. But, if your like me, always thinking and dreaming of that next move to make towards a goal or dream, then we must keep asking ourselves....what are we waiting for?

As we all know, time keeps moving, whether we want it to or not. And if we keep making excuses or are too afraid to jump towards the next move, somebody will jump right past us, and we'll be stuck wishing we would have jumped too.

This quote keeps coming to mind since I first read it last week....

Don't Bunt. Aim for Out of the Ballpark.

Hmmmm.....aim for out of the ballpark.....it may not always be a homerun, but what good is a bunt for me? We may advance someone else, but we're almost always guaranteed to be out.

Reed Diffusers~ Pottery Style

A little while back when a certain computer wasn't working, and a camera wasn't being put to work much, we had made some new pottery pieces and I never really took the time to share them with all of you.

My husband and I were throwing around ideas of some newer pieces that we wanted to try and at that same moment, I decided to have a facebook contest. I asked all my followers to shoot out some ideas of things that they would like to see done, and boy did we get back quite a response! It was fun to read all your great suggestions and ideas.....some we already were working on, and some ideas planted seeds for future references.

Well, we chose one that liked the idea of, and there was a winner! Karen Nevill was the grand prize winner, and she won exactly what she asked us to make....a reed diffuser!

I think these are perfect for not just a reed diffuser, but also a bud vase!
Karen-whenever you are ready to choose your glaze color, please let me know!!! :)

Faux White Glazed Pumpkins and More!

Last week I was able to do a little crafting. That's a big YAHOOOO for me. Nothing is more fun than being creative. And in the spirit of autumn, it was a little pumpkin project for my downstairs, which is decorated in all shades of whites with vintage pieces worked in here and there and LOTS of wood tones too.

So, instead of just using the little white boo pumpkins, I wanted something that would last for next year, and not have to be thrown out in a month because of it getting rotten. So, I found these for 97 cents a piece at walmart....quite metallic!

And then I transformed them into antiqued/white glazed pumpkins.

Super easy! Paint them white, give them 2 coats and let dry. Then, I used a coffee colored acrylic paint and watered it down pretty good, so it was runny when I applied it over the pumpkin. I immediately wiped it off with a paper towel, and made sure that it got good in around the grooves of the pumpkins. Let dry, and it's done.

I love their shape....so real looking!

I also made some pinecone garland with the most gorgeous colored ribbon....it is a very strange color~in some light it looks brown, but in other light it almost has a purple hue to it....I love it, whatever color it is. I did make a few of these for our open house and they all sold immediately! So, I had to make more for myself!

So, with the talk of fall....let me just say that it has finally hit here in Pa. Oh, very cool, cool temps right now and we are still getting a lot of rain. So, that makes things even cooler and damp. Well yesterday, we started up the fireplace for the first time this season......oh, so wonderful!

Yes, we were all feeling cozy and snuggled in yesterday.

And, as always, I am doing a little tweaking.....trying out these beautiful stained gourds as my centerpiece for this week! :)

New England Acorns!

Ever since my friend Amy introduced me to these adorable wool acorns, I have been nuts! Yep, nuts about nuts! :)

These cuties have become quite popular! SO MANY USES! Perfect for wedding favors, wine bottle ornaments, napkin ties, tree ornaments, package tie ons.....everyone that sees these little guys loves them.

I do many colors, especially for the season changes, but the New England colors are my fave! Colors ranging from rustic reds, greens, crimsons, tans, oatmeals,spices, mustards, golden rod! All the lovely colors of fall....you just can't ever have too many wool acorns!!!! :)

Ways that I have used them: key chain ornament; necklace pendant; I cut branches off a large tree, stuck them in a pottery pitcher and trimmed those branches with some wool acorns. This weekend I am using them as favors for our ladies fall brunch at church....I am going to wrap the utensils in cloth napkins and keep them tied together with the acorn ornies....a perfect fall, yet simple touch.

Yet another project...

...what's one more right?

Well,as if my plate wasn't full enough, my husband and I found ourselves to be the new owners of this beauty. (bear with me...my pics are HORRIBLE, b/c of a very messy garage backround).

What is it you ask? It is an 11' antique buckboard wagon....disassembled into 3 pieces! It is in need of some major love and attention...hence the extra project mentioned above.

We'll hopefully have it ready for Christmas display. HOPEFULLY! :)

One day we'll get the chance to relax and do nothing for awhile...right?!

A New Glaze....STONE

A couple posts back I told you I would show you a new glaze we got going on here at ITP....well, here it is.

We are calling this new creation, stone. It is a complimentary mix of a speckled white, a creamy light gray, and a darker gray.

*If your curious as to what this little guy is in the picture above...he is also a new creation. We took the advice from an Indian Trail Pottery Facebook Follower, Karen Nevill, and made a reed diffuser! Congratulations to Karen....she wins one of these little guys! It also makes the most adorable little bud vase. just sayin'. :)

Stone has an earth tone colour, but also gives off a slight modern effect...very
classy and works so well with many colors.

Our customers seem to really like it and needless to say, we need to do a lot more of it.

Pinterest- a virtual pinboard of ABSOLUTE EYE CANDY. Oh, how I love thee pinterest! It is a place of absolute inspiration for me...a place like no other where I don't have to subscribe to and flip through endless pages of ads...this is a place where I save my favorite things.

When I click the login button, I am taken to all sorts of places with in moments. Chippy barn doors, the neatest kitchens you ever would see, foods that make your mouth water...such goodness abounds from pinterest.

After a very long time of scrolling and pinning of many photos, I find myself tweaking...rearranging and my creative juices are flowing abundantly...

The fall gatherings open house was a success! We can't thank you enough for all who came out and shared this weekend with us. We had a wonderful weekend with all of you...as we always do! We truely love what we do, and we love opening up our home to you all. Once again, thank you!

FALL-ing

I won't even try to explain where I have been for the last month or so...but the short version is computer trouble.

So, I will get to some real quick catch up, and then lots of photos....we are smack dab in our busiest season, 2 days into our Fall Gatherings Open House here at Indian Trail Pottery, and despite the terrible flooding and devistation that has occured in all the local areas that I know and grew up in, it turned out to be a great event. We still have today left of the open house, so if you have read this early enough, there is still time to get in your car and drive yourself here! :)

I have soooo much to catch you up on, including a new glaze, new pieces, a winner, some crafts I made and some fall decorating. whew...so, in the meantime, let me just start with some pictures of the open house so far...

This piece was a benchmark for us...it was our largest piece ever! Thrown in two sections, and put together. I loved it so much and wanted to keep it, but it went to a good home (along with the sunflowers).

We have something new "flying" around here at Indian Trail Pottery! Yes, black bats and orange pumpkin ornaments...

Ok, so that should give you some idea of what we have been up to. Getting ready for fall before Labor Day was a little tricky especially when I only use and incorporate all real, natural things. Mums, pumpkins, sunflowers, twigs, all had to be timed just right, but I think we pulled it off. I was missing my sprinkling of colored leaves, but I don't think anyone will mind.

I PROMISE to be back on here soon and go into a little more detail of some of our newer items. Hope you are having a great day, where ever you may be reading this.

A Prim Barn Door

Hi friends.....are you wondering what happened to me lately? I'm here, it's just that summer and living life is taking a front seat to everything right now....not a whole lot of time for blogging.

I do have a few minutes though to share a little bit of what I've been up to....in between everything else, I am trying to do some crafting - making things for our fall open house. Yes, we are having a FALL OPEN HOUSE! IT IS SEPTEMBER 9TH, 10TH AND 11TH. Very excited for our first ever fall open house. BUT..... BUSY - WE ARE! :)

Ok, back to my crafting....or maybe I should say woodworking?! :) What do you think of my new - old prim barn door?

Love this weathered, old oak wood look. I have to keep this one (I just love it so much) and make a few more, so back to work I go. But can I just tell ya how much I am in the mood to decorate for fall now?! LOL!!!!

Boy, this heat is MISERABLE! I've had no zip and no energy to move (and that's even in the air conditioning). We are doing some outside work at our house and of course the time that we would be doing it, would be the hottest days of the year...ugh, it's just TOO HOT.

So, I'm thinking fall. How about you?! Actually, I'm thinking winter and snow, but just pretend you didn't hear that! ;)

We are slowly getting to orders and trying to think of fall for new things...

A Trip to New England part 1

A little over 2 weeks ago already, my family got to take a vacation up north. We packed our bags and we set out for the open road for a very highly anticipated trip to one of our most favorite parts of the country. Our first state stop would be New Hampshire.

We stayed with family and we had the most wonderful, relaxing time. It was just some well needed down time of catching up with each other, constantly eating and being poolside for almost the entire time we stayed there.

Ahhh, this was the life! :)

We were there over the 4th of July and we took in a small hometown parade that sure did showcase it's New England American heritage.

It was a beautiful parade full of really beautiful oldies....

After our stay there in New Hampshire ended, my family drove farther north...Heading in the direction of MAINE! Oh, I how thee Maine! We didn't have a real long time to spend there, but we made every second count while being there.

We of course had some beach time along the coast in Ogunquit.

Oh, how I love fresh cut flowers from my gardens. Nothing can soothe the soul like posies placed throughout the home.

On a recent trip to....(you'll soon hear all about it), I found this oh so lovely flower basket. It was just what I had been looking for....something to carry over my arm to hold all those fresh cut flowers as I stroll along the gardens....I'm a bit of a romantic, eh?

There's just such a welcomie feel that flowers give.

A Prim Makeover

Ok, where have I been, I know, I know....but if you've seen any of my recent posts on Facebook, you'll know exactly where I've been and what I've been up to...

If you don't know, you'll just have to wait for the next post where I'll tell ya all about it! ;)

In the meantime, I had to share this prim makeover/project.

On one of my past trips to New York I picked up this quite handsome, antique dolly. No, not a dolly as in a doll, but the old kind that you would wheel around carrying your large bags of grain in. (Sorry, I don't have a picture of it "untweaked").

I loved the printing that was still on the side of the hard worn, wooden handles...

I loved those big industrial type wheels....

I just thought it was neat....so in the truck he(dolly) went along with the kids! ;)

Had a few ideas, but didn't have the time to do any tweaking, until this past weekend....

I took out my former slate coffee table, and moved that adorable dolly in that metal/slate coffee tables place.

Then I had my husband cut a few very old 1" thick barn boards for shelving/tray space to hold some lovelies...

It is perfect for what I was envisioning him to be...just what I had in mind...this ain't no ordinary antique dolly, this is the very new/old coffee table.

A New Favorite Flower

a bigger, better, stronger gerber daisy.

I BIG HEART gerbers! But these are taller with thick stems and carry their name very well.

I've been meaning to catch you up with the little things that have been happening in my life and so here it goes.....(it's a bit of a lengthy post)!

Awhile back I was asked by a very wonderful family to make 16 wedding centerpieces for their beautiful bride to be. It was a task that I readily welcomed after hearing and envisioning what she was thinking for the finished look.

I didn't take any pictures of the process for making these crystal trees, but I have quite a few pictures of them at the reception.

16 beautifully glistening crystal trees. It's hard to see the detail of these in my pictures, but in the low lighting of her beautiful reception, these babies glistened and sparkled with a beautiful mix of gold, creme, crystal prisms, and candlelight.

We also got to make the bride and groom their very own communion set that they used during their ceremony...

What else has been keeping me busy? Well, we just ended our VBA at church, it's like vacation bible school, but there is no school in the summer, VBA is vacation bible adventure! ;)

So, now that I am finally home from all that, there is lots of outdoor work that has been neglected....so at a slow steady pace we'll get it done, but here is a little bit of my outdoors both in and out!

We also finished off our softball season with a second place finish over all...I'm very proud of my 2 young ladies...they did fantastic!

So, that is pretty much it in a nutshell. Lots of life in about a month's time that kept us constantly busy and running. And, it is with great anticipation and excitement that we all look forward to a relaxing vaca real soon!

Well, I've been tweaking....just like I thought I would be. Unfortunately this post will be a little boring since I'm showing cabinet pictures again....but I was just so inspired to keep moving things around and bring in some fresh flowers, I had to show you my progress.

I also need to thank you all for your very sweet comments on the cupboard. I'm glad you like her as much as I do....She feels important now! :)

Doesn't this bunch of mint look beautiful? They'll be plenty of mint tea made from this......

My whole house smells so fresh and minty!

The Cupboards New Home!

Finally! Yes, finally, we moved the kitchen cupboard to it's very own spot and she is all cleaned up and ready to show you her stuff.

When I say cleaned up though, I mean she was scrubbed, swept, scrubbed again and then given a little touch up job to her back side. I wouldn't dare change the paint on her....she has great patina, and I just love her original color.

I've done nothing major to alter her appearance.

So, let's start at the beginning. First off she had a bit of a musty smell. Well, between me burning some amazing tarts in my tart burner and placing them inside of her, well the odor started to really dissipate.

Next, we scrubbed her down. I used lots and I mean LOTS of hot water with murphy's oil soap, and LOTS of elbow grease.

Then, we tore off her very bad back side....a flimsy chipboard/cardboard type piece. That honestly was the piece that was giving her the smell...once that was gone, that gave her a whole new attitude! :)

I then bought a 4' x 8' sheet of beadboard (wainscoting), painted it a lovely shade of light khaki, and then my husband attached it to her backside.

I was so happy....she was finally ready to be moved! But, of course timing was everything....we had to do a lot of other work just to get her moved over to her new spot....

she was going here, so that meant moving EVERY.SINGLE.THING. IN THIS CHINA CLOSET.

Dishes everywhere!!!

After working hours and hours at that, we finally had her spot empty.

Now, it's Super Man and Wonder Woman time....yep, just me and my husband had to lift that very cubersome china closet TO ANOTHER FLOOR, AND MOVE A 9 FOOT CUPBOARD ACROSS THE ROOM. We did it, but now I'm pretty sure I need chiropractic attention! :/

Of course I had things ready to put in...but I've changed it up a bit since these snapshots taken last evening. :)

Excuse the lighting....I was just too excited, I had to get pictures of her immediately...

I can see it now...I'll be re-arranging her daily. Does she fit her new spot? Whatda ya think?

I can't leave a comment on any blogs....it is coming up "anonymous", and not "Tarrah at The Pottery Shed" and I don't know what I did?! I was trying to leave a comment on a blog this morning and I had to do something different with signing in and every since then it is not working.....
I SO HATE COMPUTER ISSUES!!!!
I keep having to sign in to google, but it is acting all weird. I tried google, but that was no help, I got some weird error message after going through a couple of steps. Is anyone else having this problem?
Now I really need your help.

There's a monster in the house!

A 9 foot, old, musty smelling green/grey monster.

I don't know how I will tackle it just yet, but I will conquer it and it will fit right in.

Need help reassuring that to my husband....

Playing Ball....

My family's evening life is made up of baseball and softball practices and games daily. Now, I must say we actually have had a few days off because of all the rain that we are getting this week, so once it stops, we will be having anywhere from 1-2 games a night until mid June.....YIKES! We'll be on hotdog/hamburger overload! :)

So, due to our love of baseball and a creativity/tweaking burst at 7 a.m. this morning, it led me to do a little simple, vintage, table top piece.

What do you think? I haven't been able to really cut many flowers these past few days with all the rain, and I am waiting on a few things to really open, so I decided to go a little different in the place of flowers....

I said it was simple.....

Nothing says summer fun, like those beautiful red worn laces.

Good Days

Wow, some time has passed! I haven't been around the computer much lately, but as I was cleaning up this morning, my mind started to pretty much think of what I was to type for this blog post. Maybe it was the un-decorating that I was doing? The Easter decor got packed up and put away till next season, and the house took on a little simplistic normalcy again.

So, the blankets are out on the wash line, the windows are open for the second day in a row, and it finally is feeling like a very nice, warm spring. Yay!!!!! The flowers are pushing like mad and I'm getting very anxious to fill up my urns with beautiful flowers, sit on the porch with some iced tea, and smell the freshly mown grass.....ahhhh, it's amazing what some sunshine and some warm weather will do for ya!
So, with that said, I plan to enjoy these nice warm spring like days and try to get some major yard work done, enjoy baseball and softball games with my family, and enjoy my time with those I love.

I will certainly be back, but I see a very busy spring/summer ahead, so I'll post as time allows.

Some Easter cuties...

I am a little late in posting this, but I just now am getting around to it. I saw these little lovelies on Colleen's blog a couple weeks back, and I knew immediately that these were a must for a little Easter whimsical display here at my house.

They are just so adorable! Love the chickies face....they are my kind of chick!....lookin' all crazy and out of order! LOL!!!

I have them in one of our Robin's Egg trays with some Easter grass....so bright and fun!

While I was looking at Colleen's awesome fillers, I also had to order a few more sets. I had been eyeing up her Maine Summer set since last summer, so I happily added that one to the order as well as the Bee Skep Spring.

As soon as I pack away the Easter Whimsy, these will be out!

The base on this is very shapely and gives it such charm! The plate is 9" across and the height of the cake plate is 4 1/4" high. The price is $28.

More Redware and Mouse Pottery and Some Easter Acorns for Sale!

I decided to go ahead and post up the pottery that I am selling next. I may not get the time to do it tomorrow and since I already had my camera handy and the pottery was sitting there, I decided to take a few pics.

First up is a Mouse utensil crock. It is 7" high and 5 1/2" across the top. The bottom is slightly wider, as it very softly draws it towards the top. I call these volcano crocks because of the slight angling inward.

Many uses for this gem....she is quite popular. Her price is $32

Next up is 2 more Rusted Barn bowls. Our rusted barn is a red/brown with lots of black/brown specs and brown undertones...It's quite popular for prim decorating or those that like the sienna/ earthtones.

The small one is 3" high, and 8 1/4" wide. It is priced at $24.

The larger one is 4" high, and 8" wide. This one is priced at $26.

*The small one is towards the front.

*All our pottery is food safe, including dishwasher and microwavable!

A little bit of NY

Brrrr....it's back to being cold, damp and WET here in Pa. We had a day of warmth, not a lot of sunshine, but now rain is in pretty much of our forecast. It's good I got out while it was nice! :)

So, my husband and I arrived home Sunday evening, safe and sound from a very relaxing and fun time in the Finger Lakes of New York. It was a little different than what I expected....not much to be found there other than lots and lots of tiny wineries, but it was still great to be away. It wasn't the best time to go because of the colder weather, and the vineyards as well as everything else was barren. I am sure in the fall, which is their peak season, it is absolutely gorgeous!

Here are a few random pics......

Our hotel was superb....Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel....absolutely beautiful and very clean.

*Awesome bathroom and the most fabulous shower.EVER!

Looking out from our hotel room....normally there would be oodles of boats out there, probably in the next month.

Loved this wine bottle "tree".....it was lit up at night...pretty cool!

*Some falls in a nearby town

We did lots of shopping/scouring while on our trip...we made stops everywhere it said antiques or market.
I found a few fun things...

Some favorites

I'm Ba-ack and Some Red Pottery For Sale!

Good Monday Morning! It is back to reality for me and my family...back to the work days, school days, laundry piles, baseball and softball practices, and to-do lists. So, before all that truely begins for me today, I wanted to start the week off with some Red pottery that I have for sale today.
We actually call this glaze rusted barn. It isn't a true red, there are a lot of brownish-black specks in it and it has brown undertones. It's quite popular for prim decorating or those that like the sienna/ earthtones.

I have two pieces available today:
First being a mini cake plate. This little gem is perfect for candies, mini cupcakes, fudge (yum), appetizers, or for whatever you wish.

She measures approx 4 4/4" high and her plate is 6 1/4" wide. I love mini cake plates....they are so fun to decorate with too! Her price is $22. I have 2 of these available only.

Next up is a small rusted barn bowl measuring 3" tall and 7" wide. The price for this bowl is $20. Again, very functional....possibilities are endless.
*All our pottery is food safe-including dishwasher and microwavable.

I have only this one available in this size, but I do have some larger sized bowls and you can contact if you are interested in those.

Shortbread Cookie Recipe

As promised, I wanted to quick get this last post in for the week before I head out the door...I'm going on a mini get-away. Yep, I am quite excited. :) Just me. and the mr. :)

um, back to the recipe!

These shortbread cookies were a hit....I made mine teeny tiny and they were perfect for some little nibblin, but such a yummy buttery flavor!

Classic Shortbread Cookies:
1 cup (2 sticks) cold, unsalted butter cut into 1/2" pieces
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 1/4 cup flour (may only need about 2 cup)
* Combine butter, sugar, and salt in mixer on low until butter combines with sugar but isn't perfectly smooth (1-2 minutes). Add flour (don't add all of it....I actually needed to add more butter to mine after I dumped the flour in because it got crumby, so you may only need the 2 cup of flour) on low scraping bowl down frequently until dough has just about pulled together. Don't overmix.
Refrigerate for an hour or so until dough is cool. Roll out big portions of dough on floured surface 1/4" thick. Bake at 300 for approx 15 minutes for small shapes, a little longer for larger shapes.
* I went ahead and sprinkled mine with sanding sugar BEFORE they went in the oven.

Who doesn't LOVE anything chocolate covered

and a farm's name of Blackberry Forest? Sounds rich, plentiful, and YUMMY! This is the story of 2 blogs that have the neatest authors! :)

The chance to meet 2 new faces that I found out follow my blog had me ecstatic.....

...it all started when I received an email from a Jill that had a friend in common with me. She told me how this friend in common,that told her about me and forwarded my blog to her, and she began following it and planned on coming to my open house. I passed along the directions to my house, and busily went about my merry way.

Then the following week, a new name; Marie, appeared in my blog comments, telling me that her and her friend were planning on also coming to our open house, and enjoyed reading my blog. Well, that would make anyone feel special, right?! :) Yay! Well, I immediately took a look at her blog and I fell in love with her cute pics, her fancy writing on her blog page, and a polka dotted duvet cover that she made for her smiley tot!

After reading more into her blog I read about her best friend Jill that was battling breast cancer, her love of Jesus, her homeschooling adventures and how a day in the life of her was more precious to her than gold. Now, who wouldn't want to meet this chick? We emailed back and forth a few times and she told me that the friend that would be coming along with her was Jill...ya know the one that emailed you last week! AHHHHHH! This is all coming together now..... :) Sometimes, I can be a bit slow! ;)

Well, the weekend arrived and early Saturday morning, these two glamorous girls come through my door and I instantly knew it was them! I recognized Marie's picture, but Jill....hmmmmm? I think I've seen her before....YES, YES I DID! She was a couple years older than me in high school and she knew (recognized) my husband as well from school!

It was a greet meeting of the minds....we instantly started chattering away about kids, crafting, a LOVE of wool that I will gently rub onto Marie, and Jill, well she already has the itch for it, and more kid talk, and crafting again. Ahhhh, I was so excited to find that I had 2 new friendly faces to see out in blog land.

I found out that they live very close to me, so we've already mentioned a get together, I also found out then that Jill also had a blog...didn't know that at first. Enter Blackberry Forest Farm!

Isn't this crazy little blog world amazing? How we form bonds, friendships, laughs and heartaches to those that we begin to know just through the words we type on a computer screen. I'm so glad for it....without it I would probably never would have met either of these 2 beautiful women, and would never have hope to meet all the rest of you out there. :)

Now, please....you MUST visit them on their blogs, give them the biggest bloggie welcome you can. You can find Marie HERE- loving her title- Chocolate Covered Chaos! And Jill will be found HERE. Marie shares so much about her bestie's battle with cancer and the fight it has been and it is quite uplifting to hear of a best friend walking right beside her and wanting to fight right along with her.....

Pottery Palooza!

I'll get right to it and start sharing about the open house...but first, I must thank everyone that supported us here at Indian Trail Pottery. THANK YOU to everyone that came out to the open house, to everyone that emailed us, messaged us, and of course those that put a lot of hard work and sweat into the open house with us. Thank you so much, you are all part of our family and we are so blessed to have you all in our lives!

Well, the open house started Friday, and this is what I woke up to that morning....

oh it was absolutely beautiful, but YIKES!!!!! What an April Fool's Joke! LOL!!

But, with the help of my great friend Amy we got everything ready in time and the snow quickly melted by the time we opened up the doors to start the weekend.

Some of my displays got changed around at the last minute....but I'll show it all anyway.

Tried to make it look as springy as I possibly could. I had lots of flowers, cut flowering branches, and oodles of my favorite spring time acorns! :)

Ok, well I've already posted lots of pictures and don't want to bore you too much, so this is where I'll end for today. Stay tuned...this week is going to be chock full of more pottery pictures, a yummy shortbread cookie recipe (remember the sprinkled cookies last week), well they. are. GONE. Yep, we devoured all of them....they were a hit, so I will certainly share that recipe later this week. I also have 2 blogs to introduce you too, and some new sweet blogging buddies that I had the privelage to meet. It was such a touching weekend, I can't even begin to describe! Sprinkles on a cold, rainy day

On a day that I have no time to be on the computer, I thought I would try and help brighten up your day....(it seems to be cold, dreary, and rainy covering most of the U.S. today)....so here you are. Some colorful, cheerful sprinkles to make you HAPPY! :)

Good Monday Morning! It's sunny and cold in Pa and my husband and I are under the crunch to get all our last minute "to-dos", done for the big open house this weekend! By mid week, we'll be transforming our house into a perfect little store filled with all sorts of goodies! And here are some of those goodies that I worked on this past weekend for our open house customers....just little things, but sometimes they make all the difference.

Remember these herb pots that we made....well, I needed a great, cheap way to make some garden/herb tags.....and this is what I came up with:

Then I made up some of these wonderfully aromatic lavender sachets....they smell.SO.GOOD! I have a few different types of osnaberg and linen that I just didn't get to making yet....these will be perfect tucked in a basket together.

Ok, well back to work I go! Lots to craft, clean, and some baking too!

Hi Friends....sorry for the delay of posts here at The Pottery Shed....it's been one busy week!

First off I celebrated a birthday with my family on St. Patrick's Day. What a great day I had....tons of fb messages, emails, and phone calls kept me busy ALL DAY! It was such a treat! My beautiful family treated me to some of the most precious sentiments and gifts and we dined to some very yummy corned beef and cabbage, and a birthday cake that my husband made and frosted ALL. BY. HIMSELF!!!!! :)

We've been super busy glazing, glazing, glazing all those pieces that were pictured in my previous post....it takes quite awhile to get just one batch glazed, and let me tell you....we definitely have LOTS of batches to glaze yet. Bob has made even more pieces since I last posted! He's been BUSY!

So here is some of our NEW designs all pretty and ready for the open house (these pieces are all done in Speckled Egg)....

*Berry Bowl....a mini collander for all those ripe juicy berries this summer!

*Herb Pot with Saucer....I can't wait to show you what these little lovelies look like with there wonderful aromatic herbs in them! I'll be planting them in this weekend...ahhh, fresh rosemary, basil, thyme, mint.....can you smell them?! :)

A Sneak Peak!

Just thought I would give you all a sneak peak at our works for our annual Spring Open House here at Indian Trail Pottery.

We've been crazy busy here trying to get lots of goodies made, and so far, I think we're doing pretty good, but these last 2 1/2 weeks are about to get even crazier!

A Sure Spring!

I've finally found some sure signs of spring...it is truely coming friends...with only about 10 days to go on the calendar, I've found real proof in the earth's soil that it is planning to arrive!

I took these pictures of the flowers pushing through on Saturday....on Sunday, it snowed about 4 inches! LOL!!! What a sense of humor the good Lord has! :)

And since spring is definitely coming, here at Indian Trail Pottery, we are going to make sure all those new birdies will have plenty of homes to find.

These are our Bird Bottles. They hang horizontally from a screw hole on the base of the bottle, with the stick being a perch for the birdie to then hop into the bottle. They are perfect to have on a porch, shed, deck, barn....anywhere you want to house some birdies!

This is also a new color that we have introduced on our bird bottle...SEA GREEN! It's a mist of blues and greens like the Caribbean waters! Very soothing!
We have a bounty of bird houses and bird bottles (shown) in the works. Will show the bird houses when they are finished.

Now, you remember the forsythia branches I was forcing this past weekend? Well, this is what greeted us this morning:

Spring Swap!

Well, I'm still thinking spring....but snow came anyway to our area on Sunday evening! The good thing about a March snow is, it melts quick! The sun shone all day yesterday and a lot of it is gone already....but boy, no one saw that coming!

So, to keep my mindset on spring, it is time that I show you some of the most wonderful, adorable, and terrificly smelling tarts that I got from Dana!

Spring Acorns!

You all know how much I love these adorable woolie acorns, right?

Well, I couldn't let a season go by without having some acorns to help dress up the spring and Easter season.

Acorns in pastels, your thinking? But, when they're this cute, how could you go wrong...

I'm also trying to bring in some of the first cut flowers for the year by forcing some of my forsythia.

I had to string up some acorns on these branches for a unique display...

Yep, a crow has made his welcomed debut here at Indian Trail Pottery, and we are all very excited to finally see him complete!

We started off with a small crock to show his prim goodness, but the possibilities are endless for this little guy holding a hanging star in his beak. Mugs, dinnerware, tumblers, salt and pepper shakers, you name it!

*This particular crock shows 3 crows around it.

What do you all think of him? I'm sure you'll be seeing lots more of him and his family!

In Like a Lion....

Well, March is certainly arriving just like the proverb says....In like a lion. Now, will it go out like a Lamb?

I wanted to get on here so many times these past few days, but something always got in the way; Me being sick and hardly having any energy to sit up for more than 30 minutes,so many little things happening at once, my computer somehow getting the same miserable cold I did...YEP, she caught a virus or two, but hopefully she is ok now....she even got a pretty new look to her! ;)

So, I am back. And let me just add that I have missed you all. :) You guys are my daily dose of life outside of little old Gratz, Pennsylvania, and it feels good to connect to those of you in Maine, Florida, South Carolina, Nebraska, New Hampshire, California, Tennessee, or wherever you may be. You may not know it, but your words and comments help feed my soul! I've come to count on so many of you, and look to all of you for inspiration (as well as decorating ideas). :) I read your stories, laugh at your funny moments, and am deeply saddened at your times of sorrow and desperation. We've all just kind of been put together for such a time as this, and I feel blessed to belong to such a group of wonderful friends. So, from here on out, I hope to be a better friend to you and look forward to our times of chatting and blogging together.

I've had some time to read some great material and have found such inspiration that I plan on sharing with you soon as well as many other great and fun things. So, come back....I promise not to bore you too much!

This and That..

that is what I've been up to....nothing exciting, but just this and that. :) And in between this and that, I've been a little under the weather. It seems that the cold season finally caught up with all of us here at the Millers. It had me laid up for an entire day, but I am slowly getting my feet back on the ground.

During my time on the couch, it got the wheels spinning once again, and yesterday morning I pulled out some wool, my sewing machine, more wool, and a few needles and thread! Time to get crafting again and getting things ready for spring.

I've also been working on our basement....'member I was talking about using my barnwood cabinet down there? Well, I decided NOT to use it down there. I do like it where it's at, and I have it chock full of antique pottery, and like my good friend Pearl suggested...."do you really want it down there where the kids will run around and plus no one would see it down there as much." So, it stayed there and now I will constantly be on the hunt for exciting new flea market finds and tag sale treasures. (thank you Miss Becky) ;)
I did happen to find an interesting piece to house all our tv gadgets,games, and remotes....will share that with you all soon.
BUT, I will share some NASTY, NASTY pictures of what it looked like before we got carpet and repainted.

Please DO NOT leave after you've seen this horrendous picture....I promise, it will get better.

YIKES!!! EWWWW!!!! I know, I know......let me explain....

The floors are dark red because they have a dry-lock sealer on the cement and it was colored that awful color of red. The walls were actually a nice spice color with khaki trim color, but it was way too dark for this area that gets very little natural light.

Now, I promise to show some updated basement pictures....but I can't at this moment. I don't really have any good pics yet, and it is still a work in progress. Currently we are getting some tile laid at our door!!! YAY!!! So excited for that step to be done so we can move on to the next step. Ah, who am I kidding...I just can't wait to decorate! I have done a little, I just couldn't hold back! ;)

It is going to be a different look compared to the rest of my house....it won't be near as prim but it will be vintage! Lots of white, chippy pieces mixed with old wood, a little girlie/romantic flare, but still comforting/cozzy and a place that we created together....sooo much fun to hunt and find! I'll be sharing some pics that have given me my inspiration soon too! Stay tuned....

Now, time to make some cookies.....it's just what the doc ordered! :) What are you doing today?

Thinking Spring...

Ok, so we're just a few hours past Valentine's Day, but I am ready to move forward.....with the decorating that is. I am ready to lighten and brighten things up around here now that the sun is shining and skies are bright and blue!

Shades of greens against the white snow make it hard to not thing spring and all the buds, blooms, and blossoms waiting to push through the soil.

New Pottery!

Hi friends! Is everyone staying warm? I hear that sunny skies and warmer temps are headed our way for the weekend. :)

I wanted to share some very exciting new pieces of pottery with you that just came out of the kiln this week. The first one is an 8 lb crock done in a shiny Robin's Egg. It is such a nice size! My husband threw this and we watched it and babied it and gave it lots of TLC. We gave it plenty of time to allow it to dry perfectly....AND it did......

So, are you ready to see it?

We were very excited for the way it turned out...this was his largest piece that he ever threw..

After he made this one, he threw an even larger one and we are giving that one the same loving attention.....so, we'll have to wait and see.

He also wanted to try out some new shapes for some pitchers...again in a shiny Robin's Egg.

I can't wait to run out and get some white tulips for this piece!

And now, to make a whole bunch of these in lots of colors!

Need Some Input....

Ok ladies,I need some input on a decor dilemma.....

We are in the process of finishing off our basement and this will be a real change for us since we have been living here 7 years and we never really finished it off the way we wanted...we were just so unsure of what we wanted or needed to do down there....

Well, we put it into 4th gear and we are now moving along steadily (let's hope it continues to stay on pace).

I am decorating it a little bit differently though...I am going with lots of whites....yep, I needed to get away from the browns for atleast a small portion of the house, plus there isn't hardly any natural light downstairs, so in order to make it appear larger and much brighter...I went with a light raffia color (which looks like a slight off white).

I'm taking the more vintage farmhouse look with it...or so I plan to. :)
*This is a vintage pie safe currently sitting on an antique tavern table.

Well, I'm itching like crazy to get a little piece of it decorated since we are no where near being done with it I can't do much. But the wheels started spinning and one thing lead to another and now I am ready to pull my old barnwood cabinet from my main floor down there to the basement since it already has the chippy white wood, whites, and blues....

Here is the cabinet...

This cabinet holds lots of white ironstone and old eclectic white pieces along with some blue accents, making me think this would look better downstairs....

.....decisions, decisions....

What do you think? Please let me know your input....of course if I move that cabinet down there, then I will need to find a different piece of furniture for that space! ;)

My favorite corner and some Love acorns....

One of my favorite little corners in my bedroom re-do. An old chippy blue painted chair with a locker basket filled with zinc topped Ball jars...

...and I kept my favorite wreath out too...atleast till Easter! ;)

Carmel Bell Bowl

Up for your consideration is this Carmel Bell bowl with handles.

It measures 9 1/2" across and stands about 3" tall.

....adorned with handles on each side.....
This makes a great piece for holding fruit on your kitchen table or a terrific serving bowl.
